Secluded Smoky Mountain Vacations

Getaway to the Smokies for a Relaxing Smoky Mountain Vacation

With more than 10 million Smoky Mountain visitors, no wonder the Tennessee tourism corridor is jammed with traffic. Of course, we want you to visit The Smokies as well ... but most of all,
we want you to have a peaceful and relaxing Smoky Mountain vacation.

Despite the titanic number of Smoky Mountain visitors, there are several quiet B & B's in the Smokies, especially in North Carolina ...

Quiet B & B’s in the Smoky Mountains:   North Carolina

If you're looking for a quiet Bed and Breakfast in the Smokies, consider staying in North Carolina. You'll find the crowds much smaller, but you'll still have several fun options for theater, country music and shopping.

Cherokee, NC

A quiet and peaceful spot, just south of Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Highway 441, is the Qualla Boundary Cherokee Reservation.

Here on the North Carolina side, the roads aren't clogged, the inns are quiet and in many places, you can gaze at landscapes that have not changed since the Cherokee first arrived.

One of the most inspiring tracts of virgin timber is found here -- The Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.

If you love outdoor activities -- hiking or white-water rafting ... the Cherokee region is hard to beat.

In fact, all the towns on this side of the Smokies have their unique traits --
  • Cherokee has a casino and Indian Heritage sites,
  • Maggie Valley has the most lodging plus great Appalachian music,
  • Dillsboro is home the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad,
  • Bryson City is the gateway to the best white-water action,
  • Brevard is known for its summer youth music festivals, and
  • Highlands is the Waterfall Capitol of the Smokies.
Here's a more detailed tour of the small towns in the Cherokee region.

Maggie Valley, North Carolina

Of the several towns in the area, Maggie Valley offers the most lodging options. All in all, Maggie Valley is quiet and quaint -- just a step away from being pure country.

Of course there's plenty of hotels and restaurants on the main road, highway 19, but travel just a few hundred yards away, and you'll be in a beautiful, rural Appalachian valley.
